How to Send an Automated SMS

Send an SMS to the lead immediately after submission

When a new lead is submitted Callingly can trigger an automated SMS to be sent to the lead. Two different SMS can be configured based on when the lead is submitted: an SMS during availability hours and an SMS outside of availability hours.


Availability hours are determined by the Team's availability and the individual team member's availability. See Setting Availability Schedules article for more information about how to configure availability.


How to enable:

  1. Head to the Teams page and click the "Settings" button for the corresponding team.
  2. Scroll down to the "Lead Call & SMS Sequence" section.
  3. Click the toggle for "Send an SMS to the lead immediately".
  4. Click the toggle for "During Availability Hours" or "Outside of Availability Hours" depending on how you'd like to configure the SMS.

Send an SMS if the team doesn't answer

When a lead a is submitted Callingly will attempt to call your team. If we are unable to reach a team member Callingly can automatically send a SMS to lead.


How to enable:

  1. Head to the Teams page and click the "Settings" button for the corresponding team.
  2. Scroll down to the "Lead Call & SMS Sequence" section.
  3. Click the toggle for "Send an SMS to the lead if the team doesn't answer".

Send an SMS if the lead does not answer

If a lead does not answer a call or a subsequent follow up call Callingly can send a SMS to the lead.


How to enable:

  1. Head to the Teams page and click the "Settings" button for the corresponding team.
  2. Scroll down to the "Lead Call & SMS Sequence" section.
  3. In the "Call Attempt #1" box click the toggle for "Send an SMS if the lead does not answer".
  4. This can also be configured for each subsequent follow up call by click the "Send an SMS if the lead does not answer" toggle in each call attempt box.

Send an SMS if a lead calls in but your team doesn't answer

When a lead calls one of your purchased Numbers an automated SMS can be sent if your team doesn't not answer the call. This SMS will send only once per 24 hour period to avoid sending the same SMS to many times.


How to enable:

  1. Head to the Numbers page and click the "SMS Settings" button for the corresponding number.
  2. Scroll down to the "Missed Call Autoresponder" section.
  3. Click the toggle for the "Automatically send an SMS after a missed call (once per 24 hours)"

Send an SMS or call the lead based on a keyword

A lead can send an SMS with a specific keyword to one of your purchased Numbers and Callingly can send an automatic reply and or trigger a call to the lead. This can be useful, for example, if you wish to place a sign with a phone number in front of a property for a lead to receive property information.


How to enable:

  1. Head to the Numbers page and click the "SMS Settings" button for the corresponding number.
  2. Scroll down to the "Keyword Autoresponders" section.
  3. Click the "New Autoresponder" button.
  4. Add your keyword such as "home1" to the keyword input box.
  5. Add the body of your SMS in the message box.
  6. Assign it to a team of your choosing.
  7. Optionally you may assign a lead owner or you may select "Do not assign a lead owner".
  8. To trigger a call click the toggle for "Call the lead"
